Bio
Michal Gil Ribak (b. 1999, Haifa) is an artist living and working in Jerusalem. Her practice includes painting, drawing and printmaking, while her work deals with the baggage a gaze carries and the delicate tie between sight and emotion. Relying on observation as well as journalistic and archival materials, her work touches upon the gap between vast events and their visible dimensions. She works in series, using oil paints on exposed wooden surfaces, simultaneously holding values of roughness and vulnerability, along with softness and ambiguity.
Gil Ribak holds BFA from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design (2024) and studied in Shahar Sivan’s masterclass (HaNeviim, 2020).
She is a member of “Sharav Shavur”, an art and writing collective dedicated to collaborative, experimental, and research-based practices.
Gil Ribak presented a solo exhibition curated by Paz Hadas at HaNeviim, Haifa (2023). Participated in group exhibitions, including 'Forgetting Ritual - Beita Version #2' curated by Lital Marcus Morin at Beita Gallery, Jerusalem (2025), 'Held by Lines' curated by Yulia Yablonski at 'President's Hotel' Social Space, Jerusalem (2024), 'Individual Footings', curated by Avi Lubin at the Artists' Studios, Jerusalem (2024), as well as exhibitions in Hansen House, the Slovak Institute, and Bezalel Pavillion.
Upon graduation she was awarded the Haim Shiff Prize for Bezalel Alumni (2024).
